The recessed spoke holes embed the tension point deeper into the rim structure, allowing spoke tension to follow a more natural load path.
This significantly reduces stress concentration around each hole, improving fatigue resistance — especially important in carbon fiber rims.
Improved Spoke Hole Angle Alignment
The inward curvature allows spoke holes to better match the natural spoke angle from the hub, reducing friction and stress between spokes and the rim wall.
This results in smoother wheel building, more balanced tension, and longer-lasting wheelsets.Adjust the angle by +/- 15 degrees.

Potential Weight Optimization
When properly engineered, the recessed design increases local stiffness without requiring thicker wall sections.
This allows for more efficient material use, enabling overall rim weight reduction while maintaining strength.
